Monorail BMU
Uses
A Monorail Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) is a system designed for the exterior maintenance of buildings, utilizing a rail-mounted cradle that moves along a single track (monorail) attached to the building’s facade. This type of BMU is ideal for buildings with complex or continuous facades where conventional BMUs may not be suitable.

Key Features
-
Monorail Track System: A monorail track is fixed to the building’s exterior, often near the roof or along the facade. The track can follow the building’s contour, allowing the BMU to access all parts of the exterior, including curved or irregular surfaces.
-
Suspended Cradle or Platform: The BMU cradle is suspended from the monorail and moves smoothly along the track. This cradle carries workers and equipment for cleaning, inspections, or repairs. It can be raised or lowered using a hoist system for different building heights.
-
Horizontal Movement: The key advantage of a monorail BMU is its ability to traverse horizontally along the length of the building. This provides efficient access to the facade without needing to reposition the BMU or require multiple units.
-
Compact Design: Since the system is fixed along the building, it’s often less bulky than traditional roof-mounted BMUs. It also minimizes rooftop space requirements and reduces visual impact.
